A six-year-old child drowned on Friday in the waters of the King Abdullah Canal in the Mashare area of the Northern Jordan Valley.

A medical source said that the child was rescued from the canal by Civil Defense teams and rushed to the emergency department, but he had already passed away before arriving at the hospital.

The body has since been transferred to the Forensic Medicine Center for the Northern Region.
